MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University cruised to a comfortable 84-0 win over Nashville on Saturday.

"Today, we tried a number of combinations and some folks in new positions," Head Coach Rosalind Chou said. "The coaching staff was so pleased with how everyone stepped up and played with tenacity and aggression. We had a few first and second year players start to get valuable game time with the varsity squad. Makayla Lowe, Bonnie Mosby, and Octavia Lenoir really blended well with the veterans in the pack, and will be imperative for us in our long season. Amelie Poulin continues to impress in the second row, and she even hit a number of conversions for us. Nashville was a great opponent, and we really appreciated them coming down to make the trip."

Eight different players scored tries in the victory. Kaitlyn Broughton paced the squad with four tries. Alex Sedrick added three tries, followed by Lekia Haynes with two.

Broughton got things started early as she found dotted the ball down in the try zone five minutes into the match. Haynes found pay dirt at 10' to push the lead to 12-0. In a six minute span, the Running Eagles scored three tries by Broughton, Madison Ohmann and Sedrick, pushing the lead to 31-0. Life U would add another try from Sedrick to take a 36-0 advantage into the half.

In the second half, the Running Eagles turned up the offense, scoring an average of two tries every 10 minutes. Sedrick and Ana Fanning scored a try apiece at 46' and 49', respectively. Sydnee Cervinski dotted the ball down in the try zone and made her own conversion kick to take a 55-0 lead at 52'. Sylina Flowers added a try of her own at 59'. Broughton scored her third try at 68', and was followed a minute later by Karissa Lacy at 69', taking a 72-0 lead. Broughton would score her fourth and final try at 77'. Haynes scored the match's final try as time expired at 80', giving Life U the 84-0 victory.

"We have a quick turnaround with a well-established opponent tomorrow in Lee University," said Chou. "They have been in the final four the past several years in 15s and 7s in NSCRO, and they have a ton of talent. We hope to continue the momentum from today, and keep growing into this fall season."

The Running Eagles are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 8, as they face off against Lee University.
