Running Eagles Go 3-1 At Newberry Duals

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Life University went 3-1 at the Newberry Duals on Sunday, with wins over Emmanuel, UNC Pembroke and Queens University.

In the four duals over the weekend, Lucius van Rensburg and
Denver Stonecheck went a perfect 4-0 in their matches.
In the first dual against Emmanuel, the Running Eagles won by score of 42-3. Stephen Moreno won the 125-pound match by 18-2 technical fall.
Mason Calvert won the 141-pound match by a 16-5 major decision. Stonecheck won the 149-pound match with a 16-1 technical fall. Kaleb Rahoi won the 157-pound match by 9-5 decision. Van Rensburg won the 165-pound match by fall in 3:47. Layne Clark won the 174-pound division with a 10-1 major decision.
Hunter Smith won the 181-pound division by 16-1 technical fall. No. 1-ranked
Dalton Bailey won the 197-pound division by fall in 1:49.
Brandon Hill won the 285-pound division with a 14-3 major decision.
In the dual against UNC Pembroke, Life U came away with a 40-8 victory.
Lucas Patterson won the 133-pound match by fall in 2:41. Calvert won the 141-pound match with a 15-4 major decision. Stonecheck won the 149-pound match by fall in 2:59.
Phillip McBride won the 157-pound match by 26-6 technical fall. Van Rensburg won the 165-pound match with a 13-5 major decision. Smith won the 181-pound match with an 8-4 decision. Zach Bailey won the 197-pound match by fall in 3:00. Diallo Matsimela won the 285-pound match by fall in 5:00.
Against Queens University, the Running Eagles took a 41-10 win. Moreno won the 125-pound match with a 10-8 decision. Patterson won the 133-pound match with a 3-2 decision. Calvert won the 141-pound match by fall in 4:05. Stonecheck won the 149-pound match by fall in 2:28. Anthony Carter won the 157-pound match by disqualification. Van Rensburg won the 165-pound match by fall in 1:13. Smith won the 174-pound match by 16-0 technical fall.
Adam Boyd won the 197-pound match by fall in 1:39.
Life U's lone loss of the duals came against Limestone, as they fell 23-9. Stonecheck won the 149-pound match with a 5-3 decision. Kaleb Rahoi won the 157-pound match with a 4-1 decision. Van Rensburg won the 165-pound match with an 8-3 decision.
On Saturday, Anthony Carter and Aziz King traveled to the University of Central Florida to compete in the UCF Open. Carter won the 174-pound division with a 4-0 record and King finished sixth in the 165-pound division.
The Running Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 9 as they travel to Mt. Vernon, Ga. for a Mid-South Conference Dual meet against Lindsey Wilson and Brewton-Parker.
