No. 25 Life U Drops Game To No. 12 Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – In a tale of two halves, No. 25 Life University (16-7, 4-3 MSC) fell 97-78 to No. 12 Pikeville (20-2, 5-2 MSC) on Saturday.

"This was a very tough game for us today," Head Coach Keith Adkins said. "We were playing on limited turnaround time and a short bench, and things just didn't go our way. Give Pikeville credit, they played under the same circumstances and just made more plays than we did. Now we have to bounce back and understand the importance of our preparation for this upcoming week."

Four Running Eagles finished in double digits in the loss. Senior Undra Mitchem paced the squad with 21 points as well as three rebounds and a steal. Junior Deven Dorsett put up 16 points with five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Both seniors Zach Landis and Michael Miller both contributed 13 points, with Landis adding nine rebounds, three assists and two still and Miller adding two rebounds and an assist.

The first half was a tightly contested affair that included nine lead changes and six ties. Life U took their first substantial lead of the game at 20-17, and built it out to its largest at 38-32. They took a 39-38 lead into the half.

Pikeville rebounded in the second half and opened on a 5-0 run to take a 44-39 lead. From there, they never trailed for the rest of the game. The Bears went up by double digits at 59-49. They closed out the game with a 97-78 victory.

Life U comes home on Thursday, Feb. 1 as they play host to No. 18 Cumberlands.
