Men's Swimming Earns First MSC Victory at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. ----The Life University men's swimming team earned a dominating 139-72-3 victory in its first Mid-South Conference match of the year against Campbellsville University over the weekend. The men won every event except for the 100-meter freestyle.

From the start, the men lead Campbellsville through the entire meet. The 200-meter medley relay team of
Gustav Lucas,
Victor Lima,
Trent Dungey and
Anatolii Kuzemko started the meet with a 1:56.71 victory, which beat the NAIA "A" qualifying time by six seconds. Lucas and
Francisco Santos earned NAIA "A" cuts in the 400 freestyle with times of 4:25.12 and 4:35.08 respectively.Â

Dungey, who was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, won the 100 and 200-meter butterfly earning an "A" cut in the 200 with a time of 2:13.76, and a "B" cut in the 100 with a time of 1:00.67. Every member of the men's team put points on the board.

Gustavo Rondon swept both the 100 and 200-meter backstroke events as
Pavlo Chechel and
Dawson McClure secured first and second in the 50-meter freestyle.

"My expectations were once again surpassed at this meet," head coach
Patrick Sonsteng stated. "National cuts and best times are flying up on the board early in the season. The team is working harder than ever before, and I'm looking forward to great things this year!"

The men's swimming team will return to action this Saturday, October 27, when they host Lindsey Wilson College in a home meet at the Cobb County Aquatic Center starting at 4 PM
