Women's Swimming Adds More National Qualifiers at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. ----The Life University women's swimming team fell 121-73 in its first Mid-South Conference match of the year against Campbellsville University over the weekend, despite winning seven events.
 
The women had a strong representation over the weekend with every swimmer earning an individual win. Victoria Acosta added two more NAIA "A" cuts in the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.33) and the 200-meter butterfly (2:31.10). Acosta additionally picked up a "B" cut in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:54.25).
 
Greta Gonzalez earned first place in the 100-meter fly earning a NAIA "B" cut with a time of 1:09.37, and second place in the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.54, also a "B" cut). Kirsten Coetzee won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:19.90 (NAIA "B" cut), and the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:41.78. Carla colon won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29.52. 
 
The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Acosta, Coetzee, Gonzalez and Colon hit the NAIA "A" qualifying standard by seven seconds with a time of 2:01.25.
 
"My expectations were once again surpassed at this meet," head coach Patrick Sonsteng stated. "National cuts and best times are flying up on the board early in the season. The team is working harder than ever before, and I'm looking forward to great things this year!"
 
The women's swimming team will return to action this Saturday, October 27, when they host Lindsey Wilson College in a home meet at the Cobb County Aquatic Center starting at 4 PM.
