No. 7 Men's Wrestling Finishes Strong in Smoky Mountain Duals

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. ---- The No. 7 nationally ranked Life University men's wrestling team finished a perfect 3-0 this past Sunday at the 2018 Smoky Mountain Collegiate Duals.
In the first two duals of the day, the Running Eagles won by a combined 90-9 in dominating fashion. The team started the day with a 44-6 win over Bluefield College and then downed Midway University 46-3. The two duals saw ten pins from Life U wrestlers which accounted for 60 of the teams points.

Little Nelson,
Brandon Hill,
Mason Calvert,
Yakariel Judah and
Jimsher Sidhu all earned the maximum six points in their matches with
Nosomy Pozo and Sid Ohl picking up a pin in both matches.
In the final match of the tournament, Life U was pitted against Mid-South Conference opponent and No. 15 Nationally ranked Campbellsvile University.
DeVaughn Sapien started the dual with a key 6-4 decision at the 125 weight class for an early 3-0 lead, before the Tigers responded to take a 10-3 advantage winning the next three matchups. Pozo earned a 9-4 decision as Ohl earned an 11-0 major decision to tie the dual at ten.
Osvani Ley continued his success on the mat with an 8-6 decision at 174 to give the Running Eagles a lead. However, the next two matches would decide the dual as
Lucius van Rensburg and Alex Bordeau each earned a pin to put the Running Eagles ahead 25-10 with one match remaining. Life U won five of the last six matches to earn the 25-13 victory over Campbellsville.
The men's wrestling team will return to action on Friday, January 4, when they travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in day one of the NWCA National Duals.
