MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University opened the spring season on a positive note as they took down the Atlanta Harlequins 12-5 on Saturday.

"The Atlanta Harlequins motley side provided us with the level of competition we needed to kick off our varsity spring season," Head Coach Rosalind Chou said. "It was a battle until the final whistle, and they applied a great deal of pressure in many areas of the game. We learned some valuable lessons, and hope to continue to improve this week as we prepare to face the Capital All-Stars. This was a beneficial match for our team, and we are grateful for the relationship we have with the Harlequins in helping us develop together in the South."

In a low-scoring affair, just two Running Eagles scored tries. Alex Sedrick and Kaitlyn Broughton got on the score sheet, with Amelie Poulin adding a conversion.

Sedrick got Life U on the board at 13' with the first try of the match. Poulin knocked the conversion through the sticks to give the Running Eagles a 7-0 lead. They held this lead as the first half expired.

After the break, the Harlequins got on the board with a try of their own at 52'. However, Broughton would seal the 12-5 victory for Life U at 65'.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Feb 24 as they take on the Capital All-Stars under the lights at Lupo Family Field.
