MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University junior varsity women's rugby looked dominant in their 89-0 win over the University of Georgia on Saturday.

"It was another good showing for our JV today, as they continue to improve week-to-week," Head Coach Rosalind Chou said. "January arrival from St. Lucia, Chyenne Samuels, really started to show her comfort out on the wing. She's got some good footwork and is starting to get her timing off of her teammates to finish. We saw a lot of unselfish play, and this group really wrapped up their SIRC league play on a positive note. They get a break for a couple weeks before the squad turns its focus to the double header weekend in Nashville."

Nine different Running Eagles found their way on to the score sheet with tries on the day. Chyenne Samuels paced the squad with five tries. Malery Billingy followed with four tries.

Lauren Dodd got things started early as she found the try zone just 56 seconds into the match. Samuels added back-to-back tries at 7' and 10' to go up 17-0. JaVonii Mae Merritt scored at try at 15' followed by Samuels' third at 19' to push the lead to 27-0. Lekia Haynes added a try at 22'. Billingy got her first try at 33' to go up 41-0. Morgan Crossfield and Gabriela Bergamin closed out the half with a try apiece, to give the Running Eagles a 53-0 lead going into the break.

In the second half, Billingy kept adding the scoring with two back-to-back tries at 41' and 51'. Samuels got back in the action with her final two tries in back-to-back fashion  at 56' and 64', pushing the lead to 75-0. Billingy added her final try at 66'. Octavia Lenoir got on the score sheet to seal the 89-0 victory.

Life U junior varsity will be back in action on March 26 as they travel to Blacksburg, Va. to face off against Penn State.
