Life U Downs Davenport 69-24
Men's Rugby /
MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University took down Davenport 69-24 on Saturday.

"We tried some different combinations out today, which led to some really good rugby in stretches of the game," Head Coach Colton Cariaga said. "There's still some decision-making there that needs work, knowing when it's on to play or take chances versus putting the pressure back on the opposition through other methods. That said, we evolved as the game went on and brought on some guys off the bench who took us where we needed to go."

Six different Running Eagles found their way on to the score sheet with tries. Daemon Torres finished with four tries, while Ryan Reese and Geoge Phelan logged doubles on the day.

Torres got things started with a try four minutes into the match. Carter Hunchik added another try at 14' to take a 10-0 lead. Three minutes later, Reese found the try zone for the first time and pushed the lead to 17-0. Davenport got on the board with back-to-back tries at 19' and 23' to trim the lead to 17-10. Phelan answered back with a try at 26'. Torres added back-to-back tries to close out the half with a 36-10 lead.

Davenport roared into the second with a try in the opening minute of the second half to cut the lead to 36-17. Aaron Montoya found pay dirt at 43' to go up 41-17. Torres earned his fourth try at 46' to push the lead to 48-17. Reese and Phelan got their second tries back-to back at 55' and 69', respectively. After knocking through five conversion kicks earlier in the game, he finally earned a try of his own at 72' to push the lead to 69-17. Davenport scored one final try as the game came to close. The Running Eagles took the 69-24 victory.
