No. 6 Life U Downs Cumberland In Final Dual Of The Regular Season

MARIETTA, Ga. – No. 6 Life University took down Cumberland 22-12 in the final dual of the regular season on Saturday.
"This was a very good win today," Head Coach
Omi Acosta said. "It's hard to replace guys that were a major key in our success earlier in the season. However, I'm happy with the fight and grit of our young guys that stepped up and competed. We will get back to work to get ready for the conference tournament in a few weeks."
In the 125 match,
Stephen Moreno won by 9-2 decision.
Mason Calvert also won by a 12-5 decision in the 141 match.
Dimitri Alicea took a 4-2 sudden victory to claim the 4-2 victory in the 149 match.
Denver Stonecheck knocked off No. 14 Shota Sisco in the 157 match with a 21-9 major decision.
Nosomy Pozo also won by a 13-5 major decision in the 165 match.
In the 197 match, Diallo Matsimela defeated No. 8 DeAndre Jones in a 3-2 decision.
Dalton Bailey also defeated a Top 15 competitor in Jon Floyd in the 285 match with a 6-1 decision.
Also on Saturday, a group of Running Eagles competed at the Newberry Open in Newberry, S.C. In the Open,
Robby Earick finished 1-2,
Randy Carter finished 1-2,
Mikael Codinach finished 1-2,
Lejon Paynes II finished 1-3,
Dominic Davis finished 1-3,
Ian Clark finished 0-2 and
Lucas Pancake finished 0-2.
The Running Eagles will now take some time to train and get ready for the Mid-South Conference Championships on Feb. 17 in Bowling Green, Ky.
