Bowling Opens 2019 Season with Pair of Classics
Women's Bowling /
LOUISVILLE, Ky. ---- The Life University men and women's bowling teams opened up the 2019 season at the Louisville Classic and the Thomas Burris Memorial Classic over the weekend. The pair of tournaments were on consecutive days that consisted of five games in the morning and then 12 Baker Games after a short break.

This was the first year the men and women were at two different Centers, which added to the logistical challenge of getting everyone to their respective centers to start at the same time.
The men had a tough day at the Louisville Classic. The oil pattern presented a challenge for the right handed bowlers at 40' in length. The team finished  13th (10th for Conference) out of 26 with Ray Giangiacomo standing out with a 39th place finish out of 264 athletes on a 197 average for the day.
The women's team was short a bowler, but junior Jasmine Nash led the Running Eagles with a 15th place finish out of 156 athletes and averaged 191.
On the second day, the team began the Thomas Burris Memorial Classic. The oil pattern for Sunday was three feet shorter than Saturday. Both teams stepped up to the challenge with the men's team capturing 7th (6th Conference) out of 25 teams with Giangiacomo again leading the Running Eagles with a 22nd place finish out of 259 athletes on an average for the day of 205.
The women had a tough day, but like the men stayed resilient with a 6th place finish (5th Conference) out of 18 teams. Nash once again led the team with a 10th place finish out of 165 with an average of 199. She was in the top five for a majority of the tournament.
Spare shooting was a challenge all weekend, as the team will prepare in practice for the Nashville Music City Classic the end of the month. Once again, the men and women will be in separate Centers. This event will feature 64 Baker Games, 32 each day.
