Swimming Opens 2019-20 Season with Home Dual

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men and women's swimming teams each opened the 2019-20 season over the weekend against Sewanee: University of the South.
Despite dropping both duals, the Running Eagles hit nine NAIA "A" Qualifying times in the dual.
Trent Dungey was the only male to record an individual qualifying time at a mark of 54.20 in the 100-yard Butterfly. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of
Victor Lima, Dungey, Lucas Payan and
Anatolii Kuzemko also hit a NAIA "A" standard with a time of 1:34.65. Finally, the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Payan, Dungey, Lima and Kuzemko hit the men's third and final NAIA "A" standard with a time of 1:42.30.
On the women's side, Nathalia Bento, Dora Reizinger and
Victoria Acosta each hit individual NAIA "A" standards. Bento took first in the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle event with times of 25.07 and 56.10. Reizinger captured second in the 100-yard Backstroke by a millisecond with a time of 1:00.88. Acosta picked up the NAIA "A" Qualifying time in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.35.Â
In addition to the individual performances for the women, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Bento, Jacquelin Johnson,
Greta Gonzalez and
Carla Colon earned a NAIA "A" standard with a time of 1:44.89. Also, the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Reizinger, Gonzalez, Lillian Thurber and Bento picked up the NAIA "A" standard on a time of 1:52.55.
Overall, the men fell to Sewanee 136-96 and the women 169-109. The swimming teams will return to action on Saturday, October 19, when they host Campbellsville University at the Cobb Aquatic Center at 4 PM.Â
