MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's swimming team fell by just one point over the weekend 116-115 to Campbellsville University in the home Mid-South Conference Dual.
The men's 400 Freestyle Relay team of
Victor Lima,
Trent Dungey,
Lucas Payan and
Anatolii Kuzemko earned a NAIA "A" qualifying time with a first place finish in 3:25.11. This marked the only new NAIA "A" qualifying time for the team.
Other notable finishes from the dual included Payan who took first in the 100 Backstroke (58.32) and 200 Backstroke (2:12.74).
Victor Lima also took first in the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.36) and 200 Breastroke (2:24.47). He later finished second in the 50 Freestyle (24.18). Dungey captured first in the 200 Butterfly (1:59.74) and 100 Butterfly (54.20) as Kuzemko placed first in the 100 Freestyle (50.69) and second in the 100 Butterfly (57.25).
"The men fell short by one-point this weekend," head coach
Patrick Sonsteng mentioned. "It was a tough loss, but it will serve as an excellent wake-up call for them. Our opponent was much more focused and came to beat us, and our men were not prepared. Our men have the talent, and in the coming weeks of training, their mental focus, and desire to win will be the necessary ingredients for success."Â
The men's swimming team will return to action over the coming weekend, as they will first travel to Campbellsville Univeristy to compete against the Tigers and Asbury University. The team will then travel to Lindsey Wilson College for a dual on Saturday, October 26.
