MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's swimming team defeated Campbellsville University 137-76 over the weekend in the home Mid-South Conference Dual.

The women had quite the showing with the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Dora Reizinger, Greta Gonzalez, Victoria Acosta and Nathalia Bento hitting a NAIA "A" qualifying time of 3:49.24. In addition, Thurber added a pair of NAIA "A" cuts in the 200 IM (2:16.97) and 200 Breaststroke (2:28.23). For her efforts, Thurber was named the Mid-South Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week. Reizinger also added a pair of NAIA "A" times in the 200 Freestyle (2:01.48) and 200 Backstroke (2:10.30) as Acosta added the final qualifying time in the 200 Butterfly(2:16.72).

Other notable finishes for the women included Acosta capturing second in the 200 Freestyle (2:04.94) and Carla Colon finishing first in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.80) and second in the 50 Freestyle (27.65). Jacqui Johnson (2nd, 57.82) and Colon (3rd, 1:02.88) finished well in the 100 Freestyle. As a team, the Running Eagles took first in 12 of the 14 events.

"This is by far, the strongest women's team we've had in school history," head coach Patrick Sonsteng exclaimed. "The women train hard every single session and use each other to push themselves harder. This weekend, that was obvious in almost every single race, these ladies owned their space in the pool. I am excited to keep watching their progress and see what their efforts yield, as we trek on toward our national championships in March."

The women's swimming team will return to action over the coming weekend, as they will first travel to Campbellsville Univeristy to compete against the Tigers and Asbury University on Friday. The team will then travel to Lindsey Wilson College for a dual on Saturday, October 26.
