Women's Swimming Sweep Competition over Weekend

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's swimming team went 3-0 over the weekend as the team earned victories over Campbellsville and Asbury, before taking down Lindsey Wilson 122-120 for the first time in program history.
The women defeated Campbellsville 113-73 and Asbury 104-83. Leading the way for the Running Eagles was
Dora Reizinger, who won five individual events and was on two relays over the weekend. She totaled four NAIA "A" individual times with both relays making the cut as well. For her efforts, she was named the Mid-South Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Other notable finishes from the first meet included the relay team of Reizinger,
Lillian Thurber,
Greta Gonzalez and
Nathalia Bento who took first in the 400 meter Medley Relay. Thurber earned second in the 200 meter Individual Medley and first in the 100 meter Breaststroke, Gonzalez took third in the 50 meter Freestyle and first in the 400 meter Freestyle, Bento earned first in the 50 and 100 meter Freestyle event, Jacqui Johnson also finished second in the 200 meter Freestyle and third in the 100 meter Freestyle asÂ
Victoria Acosta earned third in the 200 meter Individual Medley and second in the 100 meter Freestyle. The 400 meter Freestyle Relay team of Bento, Johnson, Gonzalez and Reizinger also took first. The Running Eagles won eight of the 11 events at the meet.
The team then traveled to Lindsey Wilson, where the Running Eagles took first in 10 of the 14 events.
The 200 yard Medley Relay team of Reizinger, Thurber, Gonzalez and Bento took first as the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Bento, Gonzalez, Johnson and Colon earned first as well. Individually, Gonzalez finished second in the 200 yard Freestyle and first in the 100 yard Butterfly, Thurber took second in the 100 yard Backstroke and first in the 100 and 200 yard Breaststroke, Acosta picked up a first place finish in the 200 yard Butterfly, second in the 200 yard Breaststroke and second in the 400 yard Individual Medley and Bento took first in the 50 yard Freestyle and second in the 100 yard Freestyle.
"The women continue to demonstrate their talents week in and week out," head coach
Patrick Sonsteng stated. "We are a small group and everyone had to swim back-to-back events, the day after another competition. I'm proud of their work, and can't wait to see what happens next."
The women's swimming team will return to action on Friday, November 22, when they travel to Sewanee, Tennessee to compete in the Igloo Invitational for two days. The event will be hosted by Sewanee: The University of the South.Â
