MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball fell just short of a comeback Monday night, falling 3-2 to No. 13 Lindsey Wilson at home in Mid-South Conference action. 
 
NOTES
• Life U fell to 14-6 (6-3) on the year, as Lindsey Wilson improved to 16-4 (8-2).
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Marin Black finished with a match-high 34 digs and added three service aces.
• Lena Pucnik led the Running Eagles offensively on a double-double with 22 kills and 16 digs.
• Zykeria Allen also picked up the double-double with 21 kills and 12 digs. Alia Dorland added 17 digs with Taylor Parrish totaling 54 assists. Destinee Benton also finished in double figures with 10 kills and three block assists. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Life U led 6-2 early in set one after a block from Zimmerman. The Running Eagles maintained a 13-10 lead before a 4-0 run gave the Blue Raiders the advantage. Life U responded to lead 18-15 after a kill from Pucnik, however Lindsey Wilson answered back with a 6-1 run to lead 21-19. Life U tied the set at 22 after kills from Benton and Allen, but Lindsey Wilson took the set with a 3-0 run to win 25-22.
• Life U held a narrow 10-9 lead in set two as both teams battled for the lead. A kill from Furness put the Running Eagles up 14-13, however the Blue Raiders responded with a a 6-0 run to lead 19-14. Life U answered immediately with a 6-0 run that was finished on a kill from Allen to lead 20-19. A block from Parrish and Zimmerman tied the set at 23, but the Blue Raiders took the second set 25-23.
• Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in set three and extended the lead with a 5-0 run later to lead 15-7. A quick 4-0 run from Life U cut the lead to three, 17-14, as a 4-1 run moments later cut the deficit to one, 22-21, with the kill from Zimmerman. Trailing 24-23 on match point, the Running Eagles came to life with a 5-0 run to force a fourth set 28-26.
Life U held a commanding 11-4 lead early in set four after a kill from Zimmerman. A kill from Allen put the score at 17-13 as the Running Eagles stifled the Blue Raiders 25-13 in set four to send the match to a fifth set.
• Life U earned the first point of the final frame, however Lindsey Wilson rattled off six in a row to lead 6-1. At the switch, the Blue Raiders led 8-3. The early deficit would prove to be too much as the Running Eagles cut the lead to three, 11-8, but fell 15-8 in the final set.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U narrowly edged Lindsey Wilson in kills 65-64. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .188 as Lindsey Wilson finished with a .184.
• Life U led Lindsey Wilson in aces 7-1, however the Blue Raiders held the advantage in blocks 12-10.
• Lindsey Wilson finished just ahead of Life U in digs 103-100.

• The women's volleyball team will return to action on Wednesday, October 9, when they travel to Gainesville, Ga. to face Brenau University at 7 PM.
