GEORGETOWN, Ky. ---- The Life University men's basketball team fell to No. 8 nationally ranked Georgetown College 88-70 Thursday night on the road in Mid-South Conference play.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 15-11 (5-5) on the year, while Georgetown improved to 22-3 (7-2).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Jay Jay Simpson led the way for the Running Eagles offensively with 14 points, three assists and a steal.
•
Cam Horton added 11 with six boards and a block with an assist.
•
Evan Milligan and
Tory Ferguson each added 10 to finish in double figures for Life U.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U held an early 12-11 lead over Georgetown after a basket from Milligan at the 14:02 mark. Both teams battled back and forth with the lead as a three from Ferguson just inside 11 minutes put the Running Eagles ahead 19-18.
• A jumper from Horton tied the scoring at 27 with 6:04 on the clock, however Georgetown exploded for an 11-0 run and led 40-31 at the half.
• Life U responded with an early 7-2 run in the second half to cut the lead back to two, 46-44, after a jumper from White five minutes in.
• Georgetown extended the lead to double digits with a 16-4 run as the Tigers led 62-48 with 10:42 remaining in the game.
• Life U was able to cut the lead to eight, 65-57, after a three from Horton and a free-throw from Gamble. However, the Georgetown offense would prove to be too much in the final eight minutes as the Tigers led by double digits the remainder of the game. Georgetown held on to earn the 88-70 win over Life U.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 25-for-60 from the field, 41.7%, while Georgetown shot 33-for-66, 50%. The Running Eagles finished 7-for-24, 29.2% from beyond the arc, as the Tigers went 8-for-26, 30.8%.
• Both teams committed 15 turnovers as Life U held the advantage in bench points 29-25.
• Life U shot 13-for-19, 68.4%, from the free-throw line as Georgetown finished 14-for-25, 56%.
