ST. CHARLES, Mo. ---- The No. 2 nationally ranked Life University men's rugby team did not allow a single try in a 47-6 road victory over No. 5 Lindenwood University Saturday night. 

The Running Eagles improve to 5-0 on the year with the defensive effort on the weekend in D1A Rugby action. Harley Wheeler touched down a try early in the match after a kick from Ryan Rees. Duncan Van Schalkwyk converted afterwords to take a 7-3 lead after an early kick from the Lions.

Lindenwood responded with another kick from distance to bring the score to 7-6 early in the first half. The remainder of the match would belong to the Running Eagles, as the defense held strong to not allow another point.

Wheeler, Marek Lipold and Rees each scored to give the Running Eagles a 26-6 lead at the break. Brian Muntanga started the second half with an interception that went the distance with a successful conversion to lead 33-6.

Life U was awarded a penalty try as Conner Mooneyham finished the scoring with a loose ball pickup under the posts. The Running Eagles kept the pressure on both sides of the ball to earn the 47-6 road victory.

The men's rugby team will conclude the regular season on Saturday, March 30, as they host No. 9 Penn State University at 1 PM for Senior Day on Lupo Family Field.
