Women's Rugby Downs Harlequins on Senior Day

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's rugby team defeated the Atlanta Harlequins 34-10 on senior day Saturday morning at home.
The action on Lupo Family Field began this morning, as the Running Eagles got off to a 5-0 start with a try from
Tatum Johnson. The Harlequins took the lead minutes later with a successful conversion, 7-5.
Life U responded as
Susan Adegoke and
Lekia Haynes had a great run down the sidelines as Haynes scored the try.
Amelie Poulin added the conversion to put Life U ahead 12-7. The Harlequins added three on a successful kick to bring the score to 12-10.
Jocelyn Jones scored the final try of the half as the Running Eagles went into the break ahead 19-10.
The storyline of the second half proved to be the defense of Life U, as the Running Eagles did not allow a point in the next 40 minutes. Jones scored her second try of the half to extend the lead to 16, 26-10. Adegoke added her own score to put Life U ahead 31-10.
Jess Keating went for points and was successful to give Life U a 34-10 lead. The Running Eagles finished strong on the defensive end to earn the home victory over the Harlequins.
The women's rugby team will return to action on Sunday, March 24, as they begin the USA Rugby D1 Elite Playoffs in Greenville, S.C.
