PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ---- The Life University women's rugby team competed at the 2019 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championships over the weekend. Battling through pool play 3-0 for the fourth straight year, the Running Eagles finished fourth at the tournament.

In pool play, the objective of each team is to have the highest point differential in order for seeding in the quarterfinals. Life U earned the third overall seed with a 132 point differential. They defeated Notre Dame 31-10 to start the day with a 40-0 victory over Delaware to follow. In the final match of the day, the Running Eagles downed Temple 71-0 to finish the Friday matches.

On Saturday, the team battled a tough NSCRO opponent in the quarterfinals, but responded with a 22-5 victory to advance to the semifinals. Once again, Life U was matched up with Lindenwood. The winner of the Running Eagles and the Lions has won the title the last four years as well. The Lions had the edge with a 31-0 victory over the Running Eagles in the semifinals.

Life U found itself battling for third place against a familiar Penn State opponent. The last second comeback fell just short as the Nittany Lions won 15-14. Life U finished the tournament in fourth place.
