Life University Athletics

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University athletic department set new department highs with the Fall 2019 Quarter as a record 296 student athletes were named to the AD Honor Roll, which is reserved for students with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Included in the record performance were 76 Running Eagles who earned a perfect 4.0. 80 finished with between a 3.5 and 3.99 with 140 finishing the quarter between a 3.0 and 3.49. Seven teams finished with a group GPA of a 3.0 or better with women's swimming, women's volleyball, women's rugby, women's soccer, men's soccer, competitive cheer and men's volleyball.

Women's swimming led the department with a program record GPA of 3.593 as the team continues to have one if its best seasons in department history. Women's soccer also finished above a 3.0 as one of the most consistent academic teams in the department as well. Men's volleyball set a new program record with a 3.111 with men's basketball raising the bar even higher with another program high GPA. 

"We have really had some teams step it up big and show what they are capable of," Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast exclaimed. "Women's swimming, women's rugby, men's basketball, men's wrestling, and men's volleyball really stepped up as teams and women's soccer who is consistently at the top, still had their best quarter in the history of the program. Our student-athletes understand that our mission is to see excellence in athletics AND academics – and we have an incredible amount of student-athletes and teams that demonstrate that. If everyone could see how these student-athletes operate day in and day out, also finding time to serve in their local communities - they would understand what a privilege it is to work with them on a daily basis."
