No. 1 Women's Wrestling Dominates Competition on Senior Night

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The No. 1 nationally ranked Life University women's wrestling team honored its seniors Aysia Cortez and Erica Sotelo for their contributions to the program. The Running Eagles defeated Brewton-Parker 49-1 before defeating Limestone 37-9.

The Running Eagles took six forfeits in the match over the Barons. Alex Enriquez won via fall 21 seconds into the match at 130 as Brewton-Parker earned its lone point of the dual on a 12-2 technical fall from Destinee Rivera at 155. Jordan Nelson earned the pin at the 2:53 mark at 170 with Gabby Hamilton earning the fall in 21 seconds as well to finish the dual 49-1. 

In the match with Limestone, Faye Cherrier began the dual with a win via pin fall 3:50 in the match as Katalina Bartelt won via forfeit at 109. Life U forfeited at 116 as Julia Vidallon responded with a 10-0 technical fall at 123. Enriquez earned her second pin of the night 2:03 into the first period as Cortez earned the fall at 1:40 in the 136 lbs. weight class. Sotelo earned the 11-2 decision at 143 as Limestone won its lone individual matchup at 155. Nelson won via forfeit at 170 and Hamilton finished the dual with a 10-0 technical fall.

Life U improved to 12-2 on the year with the pair of wins Wednesday night. The women's wrestling team will return to action on Saturday, January 18, when they travel to King University to compete in the King Open.
