No. 3 Men's Wrestling Dominates Tri-Dual on Senior Night

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The No. 3 nationally ranked Life University men's wrestling team earned a pair of dominant victories Thursday night in a tri-dual with Keiser University and Brewton-Parker College on senior night. 

The Running Eagles first defeated Keiser 37-9. Keiser started the dual with a decision at 125 as Sean Deshazer won via forfeit at 133. Robby Earick took a 9-2 decision at 141 to put Life U ahead 9-3 in the dual. Keiser won again at 149 by decision as Marcelo Sierra earned the pin in 1:47 at 157. The Seahawks won their final match of the dual with a decision in sudden victory at 165. Phillip McBride earned the 21-3 technical fall at 164 as Michael Gibson took the win via pin fall in 4:44 at 184. Baker Hadwan followed up with a 22-6 technical fall at 197 as Bret Winters closed out the dual with a fall at 1:09 for the 37-9 Running Eagle win.

Life U then matched up with fellow Mid-South Conference member Brewton-Parker in the final dual of the night. The Running Eagles scored bonus points at every weight class en route to a 53-0 win. Chase Ayers started the dual at 125 with a 10-1 major decision as Sean Deshazer earned the win via pin fall at 5:30 in the 133 lbs. weight class. Earick earned a forfeit at 141 as Denver Stonecheck pinned his opponent in 5:53. Osvani Ley took a 14-2 major decision at 157 with Sid Ohl picking up the pin at 165 in 4:41. Mason McDaniel kept the ball rolling with a 10-0 major decision at 174 as McBride picked up his second technical fall of the night at 184 by a margin of 25-9. Hadwan tallied the pin in 58 seconds at 197 as Winters acquired his second pin of the night at the one minute mark. 

The Running Eagles are now 13-1 on the year and 4-0 in MSC play. The men's wrestling team will return to action on Thursday, January 30, when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to face Cumberland University at 6 PM EST in MSC action.
