No. 3 Men's Wrestling Capture MSC South Division Title

LEBANON, Tenn. ---- The No. 3 nationally ranked Life University men's wrestling team secured its first ever Mid-South Conference regular season title Thursday night with a 24-19 win over Cumberland University. The Running Eagles finished the season a perfect 5-0 in MSC action to secure the South Division Title.
The win improved the men's team to 14-1 overall on the year. The title marks the first for the young program, as the Mid-South split into a North and South Division for the first time this season. With wins over both Campbellsville and University of the Cumberlands, the Running Eagles secured the championship with wins over Southeastern and Cumberland.
In the dual Thursday night, the Phoenix led 3-0 early before No. 4
Sean Deshazer answered at 133 with a 15-0 technical fall. Cumberland took an 11-2 major decision at 141 before No. 8
Marcelo Sierra answered with a pin in 1:13. Ozzie Ley won via forfeit at 157 as Life U led 17-7. No. 12
Sid Ohl won at 165 with a 9-4 decision and No. 10
Diallo Matsimela picked up a crucial 15-4 major decision at 197 lbs. to secure the dual win.
Up next, the men's wrestling team will travel back to Lebanon, Tennessee to compete in the Cumberland Open on February 2nd.Â
