No. 2 Men's Wrestling Dominates Montreat in Home Opener

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The No. 2 nationally ranked Life University men's wrestling team won the 2020 home opener 49 to -1 over Montreat College Wednesday night.
Life U finished the match with a pair of forfeits at 125 lbs. and 285 lbs. as well as four wins via pin fall and a major decision for the clean sweep. A mat violation cost the Cavaliers a team point for the negative result.
In the first official match,
Gavin Christ earned the win via pin fall in 2:41 for an early 12-0 Life U lead.
Jacob Ruiz (141 lbs.) answered with a 13-5 major decision, as
Yarhoski Aldiva took a 10-3 decision at 149 lbs.
Jack Bass held on in the final moments for a 15-12 decision at 157 lbs. to give Life U a 22-0 lead.
Adrian Vidoud earned a hard-fought 6-3 decision at 165 lbs. as
Asher Eichert (174 lbs.) picked up the pin in the second period (4:57) to give the Running Eagles a 31-0 edge.
Devicq Thompson earned a first period pin (1:52) at 184 lbs., as
Zane Lanham ended the dual with a pin in 1:25 at 197 lbs. The Cavaliers forfeited the heavyweight matchup for the final score of 49 to -1.

Omi Acosta had this to say on the night, "It was great to compete against a former alumni and assistant coach tonight. His guys didn't back down. He is doing well as a first year program, and I am looking forward to watching him grow."
The men's wrestling team will return to action this Sunday, November 22 as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Grand View Open.
