MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's club rugby team earned the 27-21 victory at home over the Atlanta 404 rugby team to send the group of five seniors out in proper style over the weekend.

Seniors JC Carr, Cameron Tibbetts, Sam Wagner, Ryan Pruitt and Josh Jensen were honored for their contributions to the program before the match.

Life U got the scoring going early as Shane Jacobi broke free and scored a try in the first five minutes of the contest. Zander Van Schalkwyk added the conversion for an early 7-0 lead. 404 responded eight minutes later with a try and conversion to knot the contest at seven. Five minutes later, Harley Davidson found space for a second Life U try with Van Schalkwyk converting to extend the lead to 14-7. Just before the half, Amro Gouda scored the third try of the match for Life U with a successful conversion to give the Running Eagles a 21-7 lead at the break.

404 took its time going through the phases but eventually broke free in the 61st minute with a try. Van Schalkwyk converted on a penalty in the 63rd to extend the lead to 24-14. 404 answered quickly with a try of its own, but Van Schalkwyk tallied another penalty in the 73rd minute to seal the 27-21 victory. 

Head coach Dr. Blake Bradford added his thoughts afterwards stating, "We are very happy to finish the Fall season with a hard fought win. I'm extremely proud of the effort and grit that our men showed throughout this battle. 404 is a team full of quality players  and we have a lot of respect for them and their coaching staff."
He continued, "I would like to extend my gratitude to my whole staff and all their efforts this season as well as the players for staying committed to our cause. We were very fortunate to get the opportunity to compete and grateful to the administration for giving our seniors a final season. I would like to wish the 5 Seniors all the best for their futures and thank them for leaving the jersey in a better place."
