MARIETTA, GA — The Men's Basketball Team closed out their final home game with a win against the visiting Cumberland Phoenix.
The men would also honor four seniors: Antwan Maxwell, Connor Gamble, Jeremy Joyner, and Mark Reid for Senior Night.
In the first half, the men would start out hot. Guard, Connor Gamble would score a three, assisted by Cam Horton, taking their lead on early. The Phoenix would not reach double digits until 11:38.
The men would let up their lead, with Cumberland coming back to close the score gap 22-22 at 7:38. But, the Running Eagles would fight to maintain control of the game, closing out the first half 34-40.
Entering the second half, the Men would keep control of the game, leading 45-37 at the 17-minute mark. Antwan Maxwell would drain a rare three-pointer, which would run up the score even more.
The Phoenix would not score for five minutes in the second half, while the Running Eagles would keep raising the score. By the nine-minute mark, the men would have a 20-point lead over Cumberland. But, the Phoenix would close the score gap again close to the one-minute mark.
The Running Eagles would close out the game with two good free-throws from Jordan Hernandez and Mike White. The final score would have the Running Eagles close out with a 83-70 win.
Efforts come from Maxwell, who finished with 25 points, along with Connor Gamble, who finished with 22 points in his final home game in the Eagle's Nest.
