Women's Soccer Extends Streak with 3-2 Victory at Georgetown College

GEORGETOWN, Ky. --- The Life University women's soccer team's program best win streak extends to six as the team records a 3-2 road victory at Georgetown College tonight in Mid-South Conference action.

With the win Life University (9-6-0, 6-4-0 MSC) guaranteed its first ever season of better than .500 play in Mid-South Conference play in the team's final season in the league, earning the hard fought victory over Georgetown College (4-10-1, 2-7-0 MSC). The Running Eagles controlled the offensive tempo for the majority of the game, but Georgetown struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. Leah McDaid recorded the tying score just two minutes later, seeing the teams enter the berak tied at one each. Just over six minutes into the second half, Life U took a lead that they would not relinquish, Thora Hreggvidsdottir getting a shot on a PK by the Tigers goalkeeper. As the game was coming to a close, less than 10 minutes remaining, Justine Kuiper scored off a Jeanne Brigand pass to give the Running Eagles a 3-1 lead and breathing room. Georgetown scored immediately after the Life U goal, but the Running Eagles held on for the 3-2 win.

Life U got goals from three different players and they all had the same stat line, scoring their goals off three shots with two on goal.

Statistically, Life U held a strong advantage in shots at 18-4, and corner kicks 4-1. With the shot disparity, the Tigers recorded many more saves leading the category 8-1. Neither team was called on by the refs much, but Life U had a couple more fouls at 9-6, while also earning the only card of the game.

The women return home for the final game of the regular season, facing No. 16 University of the Cumberlands at Silverbacks Park Friday, October 29 at 1 PM.
