Women's Rugby Dominates Penn State at Neutral Site Game, 75-13

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Life University women's rugby team traveled to Charlotte, N.C. for a neutral site game against Penn State this weekend, coming away with a dominant 75-13 victory sparked by huge performances from Autumn LoCicero and
Adrionna Duncan.
Life U came out of the gates quickly, LoCicero and
Nina Wilson scoring tries while
Jess Keating added a penalty kick to see the Running Eagles on top 13-0 just 13 minutes into the match. After the teams battled back and forth, Penn State got a try on the board in the 24th minute quickly followed by a trio of Life U tries before the break. LoCicero found her way past the try line on two of the scores, both converted by Keating, while
Elizabeth Gijon scored the other. Four minutes before the half, the Nittany Lions kicked through a PK to set the halftime score at 32-10.
After what was a dominant first half, the Running Eagles turned up the intensity even more in the second half, Duncan dotting down her first try of the match just three minutes after the break. Penn State's final score of the contest came in the 48th minute, the team converting a PK to cut the Life U lead to 39-13. The final 30 minutes of the contest saw Life U run off six unanswered tries,
Susan Adegoke starting things in the 51st minute. The other tried were tapped by Wilson, LoCicero, Hamdan, and two by Duncan, giving the final score of 75-13.
"We are so thankful that Penn State made the drive down to meet us in Charlotte and the competition between the two teams always brings our supporters exciting, fast paced rugby." Continued Chou, looking forward to the rest of the season, "We've been focusing on certain areas of improvement after last week and we could really see that the team is starting to build some chemistry and improve on the field. We look forward to another tough D1 Elite match up with BYU. We have never traveled out to Utah, and we haven't played them since 2017, so this will be a fun trip for the squad." Finished Chou, "We are all looking forward to some great competition."
The women's rugby team hits the road next, traveling to Provo, Utah to face the Cougars of BYU on Saturday, October 30 at 1 PM.
