Men's Club Rugby Climb ARP Standings with Home Win over Old Blue

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's club rugby team climbed to the top of the ARP (American Rugby Premiership) ladder with yet another bonus point win at home. The Running Eagles took down Old Blue 60-24 over the weekend.
The first half was all Life U as they did not surrender a point in the first 40 minutes.
Harley Davidson had a pair of tries in the fourth and 15th minutes. Orrin Bizer dotted one down in the 24th as Ishmaeel Safodien scored one of his own just before the half.
Sam Cowley knocked home the conversion to give Life U a 22-0 lead at the half.
The offense showed no signs of stopping in the second half as
Matias Corrado scored three minutes after the break and Safodien added his second two minutes later with a pair of conversions from Cowley. Life U led 36-0 before Safodien picked up the hat-trick in the 48th minute to lead 41-0. Sean Lenzsch was able to find points in the 53rd minute with a try as the subs began to come onto the field. Duncan Van Schalkwyk put the Running Eagles ahead 53-0 in the 61st minute. Old Blue finally found some offense in the closing 14 minutes of the match as a late score from
Zander Van Schalkwyk with a successful conversion gave the final score of 60-24.
"We played really good rugby for 60min and then took our foot of the gas, and let in some easy tries," Head coach
Blake Bradford stated. "That will be something we look to improve this week, being more ruthless. Overall we are happy with the bonus point win and excited for our match-up with NYAC this week. They are a quality side and present a new challenge for us."

This weekends matchup with NYAC will bare the most importance for the Running Eagles, with the senior class being honored before the match. The match will be played at Silverbacks Park in Atlanta, Ga. at 1 PM.
