Women's Rugby / 10.04.21
MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's rugby team spent the week traveling the East Coast in preparation for the upcoming D1 Elite matches.
First, the team traveled to Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday, September 29, to train and catch up with alumni Amelie Poulin '19 and Angie Owen '19 who are assistant coaches at the program. The two teams competed in 7s scrimmages with our newer athletes.
Â
Then, the Running Eagles traveled to Penn State on Thursday, September 30. Life U was was able to play 33 student-athletes and enjoyed the 27-19 win against a very skilled Penn State squad, building a lot of depth and gaining invaluable experience for everyone on the squad.
Â
The team enjoyed an off day at Chocolate World, visiting Hershey, PA and friends and family who have been great and displayed support the whole trip providing snacks, meals and moral support.
Â
On Friday, they had another extended roster of 26 athletes to continue to build depth and play a top WPL squad, NYRC. Life UÂ came out very strong against NYRC, despite having played extended minutes of rugby during the week. Once again, the team got all of its student-athletes into the game to get much needed, high pressure repetitions in tight games, and tied 20-20 until the 79
th minute, NYRC scored in the 80
th minute to take the game.

Head coach
Rosalind Chou mentioned, "The tour was just what we needed going into the rest of our fall with the NCR squad facing KSU next Saturday, and a home double header against Lindenwood in two weeks. We got a lot of good reps in and a lot of quality minutes out of our roster. Despite the short turn around, I am very pleased with the effort our women put out onto the field every day."
