CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell on the road to No. 4 Thomas More Thursday night in the Mid-South Conference opener for both teams.
The Saints from Thomas More overpowered the Running Eagles in the 82-33 win as no Life U player finished in double digits for the game. Thomas More led after the first quarter 16-9, but limited Life U to just two points in the second quarter to lead 40-11 at the half. The Saints outscored the Running Eagles in the third quarter 22-10 and 20-12 in the fourth for the final of 82-33.
As a team, Life U finished just 12-for-46 (26.1%) from the floor and 2-for-11 (18.2%) from behind the arc. The team was 7-for-13 (53.8%) from the free-throw line as well. The Running Eagles totaled 16 points in the paint and 18 bench points with 24 rebounds. The 21 turnovers proved to be costly, however the team managed eight steals during the game.
Thomas More finished 30-for-63 (47.6%) from the floor and 12-for-35 (34.3%) from three. The Saints were 10-for-18 (55.6%) from the free-throw line and totaled 38 rebounds. They added 28 points in the paint, 27 points off turnovers and totaled 13 steals with four blocks.
Individually,
Olivia Delk and
Rachel Wilson each finished with a team-high seven points in the game as Delk,
Lenise Santiago and Bailey picked up a pair of steals.
The women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 20, when they continue the MSC road trip at Shawnee State University at 2 PM.
