Women's Rugby NCR Squad Dominate in NCR Playoffs to Claim National Title

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ---- The Life University women's rugby NCR Squad claimed the women's Division 1 National Championship on Sunday, defeating the University of Northern Iowa 87-3 for the team's first National Collegiate Rugby title.
The No. 5 seeded Running Eagles defeated No. 3 Marquette on Saturday 103-0 to advance to the championship on Sunday. Life U continued its offensive effort in the championship with an 87-3 victory over No. 1 UNI with the three points being the only that the Running Eagles gave up all tournament. Over the four game span, the Running Eagles dominated the competition with a combined score of 303-3 to claim the championship.

Rosalind Chou exclaimed, "We are so proud of our NCR squad and the performance they put on this weekend in Knoxville! We've been focused on core skills in run-catch-pass, the breakdown, and defensive structure in the two weeks since our regional double header three weeks ago. The week leading up to training the team was focused, tuned in, and had a great build up to this culminating weekend. Our entire roster has been supportive and we traveled with 15 varsity athletes in support of this NCR squad and they've built such a supportive family culture. Many student-athletes stood out and we put in a full performance. We will ride this momentum into the spring and have built great depth for our upcoming D1 Elite season."
