ST. CHARLES, Mo. ---- The Life University women's rugby team came up short on the road at Lindenwood, falling behind for a 30-17 loss after a tightly contested opening in the afternoon game.

The team's fought back-and-forth through the early running, Lindenwood striking first with a try and conversion to take a 7-0 lead in the first minutes. The Running Eagles responded with a try by Kate Buzby, but came up short on the conversion kick to trail 7-5. Life U did a good job of stalling out the Lions' next possession, Lindenwood ending the possession with a penalty kick to move its lead to 10-5. After a successful line out on Lindenwood's side of the field, Saher Hamdan inched her way in for the try to tie the game at 10. The Lions posted a couple more scores before halftime to take the teams to the break at 22-10.

In the second half, following a good break by Susan Adegoke, Adrionna Duncan dotted down the try and Jess Keating was good on the conversion to place the score at 32-17. Lindenwood posted another try to fix the final score at 39-17.

Head Coach Rosalind Chou had this to say on the team's effort, "Both matches were intensely physical as we expected. In the JV match, we struggled retaining possession of our own ball on attack and Lindenwood took great advantage of that. We also struggled with our discipline in both matches and getting yellow cards in both matches. Overall it was a tremendous effort by both squads and we have a lot of things to hone in on over the next two weeks when we host them." Chou finished, saying, "We always love the challenge of playing Lindenwood and look forward two great matches at home."

The women's rugby team will return to action on Saturday, March 6, when they welcome Lindenwood to Lupo Family Field for an 11 AM kickoff.
