LAURINBURG, N.C. ---- The Life University women's lacrosse team kicked its season off today, earning a lopsided 17-5 victory over St. Andrews.
NOTES
• Life U starts the season the right way with a 1-0 record, while St. Andrews drops to 0-1.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Anslee Warchol led all players in goals made, contributing four to the team's total. She was very accurate on the day, making her goals on only five attempted shots and also picked up three ground balls.
•
Maria Arvizu and Briana Freeman both had killer games making three goals each. Arvizu's goals came on five shots, while also leading all players in ground balls recovered with eight and causing two turnovers. Freeman added a game-high two assists to her stat line.
• Tinna Ricci stuffed the stat sheet, recording two goals, an assist, seven ground balls, one caused turnover, and a team-high four draw controls.
•
Korenza Heath went the distance in goal for the Running Eagles, gathering five saves and only allowing five goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Running Eagle's got started quick, Warchol recording the first goal of the game in the second minute of play. Another Life U goal had the score 2-0 in the team's favor, but back-to-back scores by St. Andrews tied the score with just over 22 minutes to play in the half. Four Life U goals off the sticks of

Lacy Legaspi, Ricci, and Freeman over a span of three and a half minutes starting at the 21:14 mark put the game out of reach for the Knights. A 10-2 run over the final 20 minutes of the half saw Life U carry an 11-4 lead into the break.
• Life U defenders continued clamping down on the offensive efforts of St. Andrews in the second half, only allowing a single goal in the final frame of play. The Running Eagles pushed the score into the running clock range with 22:25 left in play, 14-4, when Warchol netted a goal that was assisted by
Kelly Beshaw. The Knights scored the final goal of the game with jsut over 10 minutes remaining as the Running Eagles cruised to a 17-5 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U dominated when it came to shots attempted, outdoing the Knights 37-23 with 26 shots on goal as compared to the other team's 10.
• Life U also owned the edge in ground balls and draw controls, taking advantages of 29-24 and 12-11, respectively.
• The Running Eagles did a good job of taking care of the ball, only committing 16 turnovers to St. Andrews' 27. Of St. Andrews 27 turnovers, 10 were caused by Life U players.
