Women's Soccer Drops Senior Day Game in Overtime to Georgetown, 1-0

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team honored senior's Hollie Johnston, Citlalli Godoy-Diaz, Allyse Roberts, and Elin Josefsson before the game and maintained pressure on the attack throughout the contest, but it was conference foe Georgetown College that scored the game's lone goal, giving the Running Eagles a 1-0 overtime loss Tuesday night in Lupo Family Field.

NOTES
• Life U's record stands at 6-8-2 (2-8-1) following the loss, while Georgetown (Ky.) moves on to 6-6 (4-6).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a couple early on goal shots by the Tigers that were stopped by Emily Hounsell, Life U took control of the ball, keeping pressure on Georgetown's defenders through the rest of the half. Daniella Cianchini earned three shots on goal on her own through the first half, as the team recorded seven shots on frame during the half. Despite the constant pressure, the teams entered the break tied 0-0.
• The Running Eagles continued putting up a flurry of shots over the second half, recording 19 of them, but still the team could not fins the back of the net, ending regulation at 0-0. The extra time looked like it was headed to a similar result as the preceding periods, but following a goalie kick, Georgetown (Ky.) made a break to the goal where the winning shot was recorded with little over a minute to go in the first overtime.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Despite losing, Life U held a massive advantage in shots, leading 31 (15 on goal) to the Tigers' 13 (five on goal).
• The teams tied at seven in corner kicks, however the Running Eagles trailed Georgetown (Ky.) in saves 15-4.
• Georgetown (Ky.) earned more fouls 11-7, while the teams were even with one yellow card each.

UP NEXT
• Tonight's game was the regular season finale, the team next turns to the Mid-South Conference Tournament, taking part in the opening round where the team will play on the road between March 27-30.
