Running Eagles Compete in Duel Meet at SGSC

DOUGLAS, Ga. – The Life University swimming and diving teams traveled to compete in a duel meet in Douglas, Georgia with the women winning both duels while the short-handed men's team dropped both.
The double-meet featured an NAIA school and an NJCAA opponent. South Georgia State College hosted the event with Thomas University representing the other NAIA school. The Night Hawks from TU claimed the most combined points.
On the women's side, the Running Eagles won both meets over the weekend. Lillian Thurber and Nathalia Bento were both double winners, with Thurber winning the 100 breast and 200 IM. Bento won the 50 and 100 free while freshman Seema Chavis placed first in the 500 free.
Also contributing for the women, Dora Reizenger had two 2nd place finishes, Victoria Acosta place 2nd in the 100 fly and Sophia Carneiro grabbed two 2nd place finishes. As a team, the women placed first in the 200-medley relay and 400 free relay. The women's overall team performance led to two dominant wins, 113-27 and 96-59.
The men's team swam short-handed Saturday, picking up losses against both Thomas and SGSC. A bright spot for the Running Eagles was Lucas Payan's first place finish in the 100 back. Bence Dort (200 and 500 free) and Bence Merész (100 breast and 200 IM) also had two 2nd place finishes.
Up next, both teams will compete in the Small College Invite Nov. 17-19th in Columbus, Ga.
