Women's Wrestling Stays Unblemished at Baron Duals

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. --- The No. 3 Life University Women's Wrestling team traveled down to Brewton-Parker College today to take part in the Baron Duals, competing in five matches and coming out on top in each of them.
The dual scores went 36-11 over host and Mid-South Conference foe, No. 17 Brewton-Parker, 37-10 over Limestone, 49-0 over Montreat, 48-1 over Lincoln Memorial, and 32-15 over No. 12 Missouri Baptist. With the five victories, Life U's dual victory win streak now spans 21 matches.
The opening dual against the Barons saw Life U win eight out of the ten matches. The match was highlighted by a 10-0 tech fall victory for
Devyn Gomez over 17th-ranked 101 lbs. wrestler, while
Riley Dalrymple also downed a ranked opponent, pinning the 18th-ranked 136 pounder in 2:25.
In the day's second dual, the Running Eagles got off to a quick start, moving ahead to a quick 28-0 lead over Limestone University. All of Life U's non-forfeit victories came in the bonus, Dalrymple and
Latifah McBryde pinning their opponents in a combined four minutes.
Life U's dual with Montreat College saw the Running Eagles nearly pull off a perfect sweep, the team compiling a massive five pins. Gomez started things with a lightning quick pin in 40 seconds.
Peyton Prussin followed her up with a even quick victory by fall in just 0:28. The middle of the match saw pins come from
Olivia Mottley and Dalrymple in 1:18 and 1:32, respectively. The final pinfall came from L. McBryde, the freshman putting her opponents back on the mat in just 0:37.
Against Lincoln Memorial, all matches except for two were forfeited to the Running Eagles,
Paige Denke earning a 13-2 tech fall at 116 lbs., while
Riley Dalrymple picked up her fourth victory of the day in a quick 10-0 tech fall.
The final dual matched Life U up against No. 12 Missouri Baptist, Life U falling behind early with a loss in the first match, but quickly bouncing back. After a pair of forfeits, Mottley and
Zaynah McBryde earned a pair of 10-0 tech falls to push the lead to 18-5. Two losses by fall saw the score pulled closer at 18-15, but a 10-0 tech fall by L . McBryde over the No. 10 155 pounder put the momentum back on Life U's side. After a forfeit at 170 lbs.
Catherine Palmieri ended the dual with a pin in 54 seconds.
The Running Eagles do not compete again until after Christmas, taking part in the Soldier Salute at the University of Iowa on December 29-30.
