Men's Track Places First in Home Indoor Meet

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. --- Life University played host to the Life U "Indoor" Qualifier Sunday, the men's indoor track and field team placing first out of a field of seven teams with 150 team points, edging out second place Reinhardt by 42 points in the meet held at New Manchester HS in Douglasville, Ga.
On the track, Life U recorded three A-Standards and a B-Standard, while taking 11 top three placements.
Sameer Mateen recorded a pair of A-Standards in the short track, posting the fifth best 60m dash time in the NAIA currently with a time of 6.80 and then finishing the 200m dash in 21.73 to currently place 11th in the NAIA.
Jacob Ulrich performed the other A-Standard, earning his second of the indoor season, this time in the 600m dash, winning the race with an NAIA seventh-best 1:19.57. The Running Eagles B-Standard was earned by Charlton Hesley who finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 48.77. Other top placers that came close to standards were
Patrick Faust, finishing second in the 600m dash in a time of 1:21.79, missing the standard by only .22 of a second;
Ngoni Chadyiwa with a 22.21 in the 200m to miss the standard by .23; and Marvin Jean-Francois winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.53 which is .15 off the standard.
In the field events Donovan McNabb took first place in the pole vault with a height of 3.65m and second place in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
Michael Panzarino won the high jump, edging out McNabb with a height of 1.75m and took fifth in the long jump with a length of 5.99m.
The Running Eagles next compete in the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships on February 18-19th in Lousiville, Ky.
