Men's Rugby / 03.10.22
MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University men's rugby team found themselves in a dog fight Wednesday night in D1A action against Army, coming up on the wrong side of the score, taking a 14-10 loss at home.
Army held the momentum the majority of the contest, recording the game's first try in the 12th minute to take a 7-0 lead. Neither team scored the rest of the half, but the Running Eagles quickly got on the board in the second half,
Bradley Crane converting a penalty kick to bring the score to 7-3. Midway through the second, an Army maul led to another try. Life U recorded its only try of the contest as the game was coming to a close, captain
Jared Miller dotting it down to give the final of 14-10.
Head coach
Colton Cariaga spoke on the the game, "There was no fault in the boys' effort tonight. They were so committed, especially in defense, and fought for over 80 minutes. At times, however, we found ourselves playing a game that probably didn't suit us. Also, we need to limit successive mistakes as those tend to lead to points or stifle our own momentum."
Cariaga finished, summing up saying, "As always, we will grow from this experience and continue to develop our game. Hats off to Army; they are a very good side. All in all, tonight was a great occasion playing under the lights with support from all over community and the country."
The men's rugby team has one more D1A 15's regular season match left, a March 26th meeting with Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo. set to start at 3:30 PM.
