Women's Wrestling Earn 43-3 Victory Over Montreat on Senior Night

MARIETTA, Ga. --- In the team's final home dual of the season, the No. 3 Life University women's wrestling team honored its seniors by dominating Montreat College, 43-3, Wednesday night in the Upper Gym.
The Running Eagles (12-1) opened the match quickly against Mid-South Conference foe Montreat (3-13),
Devyn Gomez earning a 10-0 tech fall to start the match. At 109 lbs.
Jasmine Godinez put in work against her opponent, boosting the lead to 9-0 after settling a pin in just 1:45. A forfeit by Montreat at 116 lbs. was followed by the Running Eagles only loss of the night in a 12-7 decision to bring the score to 15-3 after four.
After the Cavaliers' victory, Life U went on a tear, not allowing another point. A
Kaci Bice pin in 1:42 was followed by a pair of rapid, 10-0 tech falls by
Riley Dalrymple and
Jamilah McBryde.
The final three bouts of the night went by in a flash, a 20 second pin by
Stephanie Villalobos at 170 lbs. being sandwiched by forfeits at 155 lbs. and 191 lbs. to give the final score of 43-3.
The Running Eagles fly out tomorrow morning for their next dual, facing No. 4 Campbellsville University in Austin, Texas as part of the D1 Dual Series Friday at 5 PM.
