AUSTIN, Texas --- As is usually the case the regular season match between Mid-South Conference rivals No. 3 Life University women's wrestling and No. 4 Campbellsville, despite being in an unfamiliar setting, Friday night saw a high class dual with the Running Eagles pulling away for a 26-14 win.

The dual, part of the D1 Elite Series hosted by FloWrestling, was the third-straight victory Life U (13-1, 4-0 MSC) has earned over Campbellsville (14-3, 6-1 MSC).

Devyn Gomez bullied her opponent throughout the opening bout, giving the team a quick start with a 10-0 tech fall. At 109 lbs. Jasmine Godinez avoided getting pinned as time ran down late in the first period to, coming out aggressive in the second to secure the victory and extend the lead to 7-1.
 
The first loss of the night came at 116 lbs., a hard-fought decision that saw a late takedown to decide the match go against Kory Phillips 7-4.Yet another close match followed at 123 lbs., savvy defense at the end of the match by Olivia Mottley preserving a 6-4 decision in her favor to move the score to 11-5.
 
A recurring theme of the early going of the dual, another nailbiter awaited at 130 lbs., Zaynah McBryde not able to secure a takedown late for a 7-3 loss. At 136 lbs. Sarah Savidge savaged her opponent, throwing her for a four point throw off the rip before turning her three times for the 20 second 10-0 tech fall.
 
Jamilah McBryde battled with last year's national finalist at 143 lbs., Emma Walker, pulling away late on her way to a 12-7 decision and see Campbellsville's deficit increase to 19-9. Following her sister's upset victory, Latifah McBryde controlled her opponent from the start, dominating her opponent 11-0 to secure the match victory for the Running Eagles.
 
With victory in hard, after a loss by pin at 170 lbs., Catherine Palmieri finished things off with a 3-0 decision to give a final of 26-14.
 
The Running Eagles stay on the road for their next competition, taking part in the Emmanuel Open in Franklin Springs, Ga. on January 22.
