Men's Wrestling Earn Three Champions at Blue Raider Open

COLUMBIA, Ky. --- The Life University men's wrestling team took a massive crew to the Blue Raider Open today with the team claiming first place in three of the ten brackets.
The Running Eagles first champion came in the 149 lbs. bracket,
Brevin Balmeceda owning the field on his way to a 5-0 finish. Of the five bouts he competed in, only one, a 5-2 decision in the semifinals, not coming in the bonus. The redshirt junior started his day with a 16-1 tech fall and ended it in the finals with yet another tech fall, this time 15-0.
At 174 lbs.,
Riley Smucker had another great day, going 4-0 to claim the top spot in his field. The senior started his day with a pair of pins, the first ini 1:46 while the second took 2:47. Smucker continued recording victories in the bonus, his semifinals bout ending in a 18-0 tech fall. In the championship bout, he finished his day with an 11-2 major decision to earn all his victories in the bonus.
Austin Harris put together a stellar day, earning every single victory by a pin. Harris's journey from the opening round through the semifinals only took a combined 4:56, beating his opponents in 1:48, 1:45, and 1:23. In the championship match, he finished the perfect day with a pin in 4:41.
