Women's Wrestling Records Four Top Three Placements at Warrior Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The Life University women's wrestling team competed in Indiana today in the Warrior Open, three Running Eagles earning top three placements.
Devyn Gomez started the day for the Running Eagles on a strong foot, earning a third-place finish. After starting the day with a loss, the Junior bounced back by winning four straight on the consolation side of the bracket. A quick pin was followed by a 10-0 tech fall to advance her to the consolation semis against an opponent ranked 13th. A victory by injury default saw her make it to the third place bout, where a 6-2 decision victory saw her day end on a high note.
Sarah Savidge continued the hot streak to start her Life U career, going undefeated in the 130 lbs. bracket on her way to a title. Her victories came via a pair of tech falls and a pair of pins. Her final two bouts both came against ranked opponents. The semifinals matching her against No. 19 for a 14-2 tech fall, and the championship against No. 4 Angela Vitiritti where she earned a pin in 1:52.
The next weight class saw another champion,
Riley Dalrymple sweeping her way through the 136 lbs, bracket. Her first two matches came to a close in dominant fashion through a pair of tech falls, while the semifinals and championship saw tougher finishes. A 7-4 decision came against an opponent ranked 15th to make it to the final where another decision victory saw her come out on top over the 8th ranked wrestler.
