Men's Wrestling Dominates St. Andrews In Conference Dual, 51-0

MARIETTA, Ga. --- The second-ranked Life University men's wrestling team welcomed Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, St. Andrews, to campus tonight, dominating them by a near perfect score of 51-0 in the Upper Gym.
Life U (7-2, 4-0 AAC) stayed perfect in conference play with their Tuesday night victory, the team compiling a massive six pins over the course of 10 bouts.
The Running Eagles got off to a quick start
Adrian Morales starting the dual with a quick pin in 1:19, but
Travis Knowlton one-upped him at 133 lbs. earning his pin in just 0:46 to see Life U take an early 12-0 lead. Another victory in the bonus followed at 141 lbs.,
Jordan Mitchell earning a 13-5 major decision.Â
The closest bout of the night came at 149 lbs.,
Cameron Crump's riding time advantage seeing him come out on top in a 7-6 decision.
Alexander Couto hit the mat next, giving the team their third pin of the night, this time in 2:06. The only other bout that was not earned in the bonus came at 165 lbs.,
Will Garrett narrowly missing the major with an 8-2 decision.
The final four bouts saw more of the same for the Running Eagles, a
Ty Brandt pin at 174 lbs. in just 1:47 pushing the Life U lead to 34-0. Super senior Jonathan De La Cruz rag dolled his opponent the majority of the match at 184 lbs., ending it near the end of the second period with a 20-5 tech fall. Despite things looking like they were going negatively the majority of the 197 lbs. match, a Doug Dittmer reversal set him up for an insane pin. The final bout of the night also ended in a pin,
Spencer Dacus proving stronger and faster than his opponent, taking him to his back and earning the pin in 4:38 to give the final of 51-0.
The Running Eagles stay home for their next dual, facing conference rival and third-ranked, Southeastern University, Friday in the Upper Gym at 7 PM.
