Men's and Women's XC Begins 2023 Season At ASICS Cross Country Invite

Fairburn, Ga. --- The Life University cross country teams competed in their first race of the season at the ASICS Cross Country Invite today.

Christian Salt led the way for the men, coming in sixth place in the 8k event with a time of 26:19.91. Three other Running Eagles ran in the 114-man field, Elie Penitzka taking 18th place with a time of 26:55.66, while Abedelemejid Kerebo followed right behind him in 22nd place with a time of 27:04.89. The final placer for the men was Omar Hernandez-Santos in 63rd place with a time of 29:21.85.

On the women's side, five runners competed, Kyja Williams leading the way with a time of 20:50.6 in the 5k event for 35th place, while Emeline Delaville was right with her in 36th place with a time of 20:51.07. Other placers included Cynthia Jeptoo in 62nd place with a time of 22:53.81, Najah Gibson in 97th with a time of 27:46.12, and Hannah Burner in 98th with a time of 27:50.12.

The Running Eagles next compete at the Charger Invitational in Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday, October 7.
