MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University women's soccer team opened the conference tournament on Thursday with a 5-0 shutout quarterfinals win over University of Mobile (Ala.).
Four different players scored for Life U as Lilja Bjorg Olafsdottir scored twice.
The Running Eagles scored early as Dana Billington found the back of the net in the 2' minute to put Life U ahead 1-0 at 2:19.
Life U would control the ball for the next 42 minutes before Jeanne Brigand scored in the 44' off an Billington assist to end the half 2-0
LU went into the half with a 17-1 shot advantage while Grace Staunton made one save.
The second half was much of the same as Life U outshot the Rams 19-2 in the final 45.
The Running Eagles' third goal of the game came 15' into the second half as Brigand found Olafsdottir and put the ball in the back of the net giving Life U a 3-0 lead in the 60'.
Olafsdottir was able to get another shot off an Anakah Madril pass in the 74' to put a 4 goal differential between the Running Eagles and Rams.
Life U would go on to score their fifth goal in the 79' from Madril after a trip right in front of the goal to give the midfielder a penalty kick.
Staunton closed out the game in goal and made two saves in the second half.
