Life U XC Runs at SSAC Championships

DANVILLE, Ala. --- Four Running Eagles earned All-Conference honors as the Life University cross country teams finished their season in the Southern States Athletic Conference with a third place finish from the men's team and seventh place finish from the women's team in the conference championship Saturday morning.
For the men's team, the Running Eagles recorded 63 team points for their third place finish. Williams Carey received the title with a score of 48 and Mobile (Ala.) coming in second with a score of 52.Â
Christian Salt took the highest spot for the Running Eagles and received a bid to nationals with a time of 25:42.80 to take third place. The other All-Conference honorees for the men's team was earned by Dennis Kipruto, the sophomore finishing in eighth place in a time of 25:57.00 and Ikageng Gaorekwe finishing in 13th place with a time of 26:19.05.
For the women's team, the Running Eagles recorded 159 team points for their seventh place finish. Blue Mountain received the title with a score of 46 and William Carey (58) and UT Southern (80) finishing in the top three finishes too.Â
Emeline Delaville earned the highest spot for the Running Eagles, as well as earned All-Conference and All-Freshman honors with a time of 23:42.68 and coming in at 11th place.Â
With Salt earning a bid to the NAIA Championship, the Running Eagle and potentially others will compete in Vancouver, Washington on Nov. 17th.
