Men's Club Rugby / 11.08.23
MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's club rugby team will compete in the American Rugby Premiership title game this weekend, facing Mystic River Rugby.
The Running Eagles will host Mystic River on Saturday with hopes of claiming the ARP title for the third consecutive year.
Entering the title game, the Running Eagles have a 6-1 record with a flawless 4-0 record at home. The team's only loss came during the home opener against NOLA, but came back three weeks later to defeat the team 19-17.
Dominant wins over the USA Rugby Academy and Tennessee Elite helped propel the Running Eagles forward as the favorite to host the ARP Championship game.
The Running Eagles' opponent, Mystic River Rugby, was established in 1974. Hoisting trophies in 2016 and 2018 in the USA Rugby 15s D1 National Championship, Mystic River enters the title game with a record of 7-0 after beating White Plains 31-24 in the semi-final game.
Most recently, the Running Eagles earned a competitive win over 2-seeded Old Blue just over a week ago, earning a 24-14 win in the ARP Semifinal.
Kickoff at Lupo Family Field is slated for 7 PM.
