COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in a duel against Point University this past Thursday in Columbus, Ga.
Both teams were able to take home a win and many first place finishes.Â
The Women's team finished in first place in eight out of the ten events held Thursday. Nathalia Bento started off strong with an early first place win in the 100 yard Butterfly and also taking first in the 50 yard Freestyle. Â
There were also first place finishes from Dora Reizinger in the 200 yard Backstroke and 500 yard Freestyle, Sophia Carneiro in the 100 and 200 yard Breaststroke, Seema Chavis in the 100 yard Freestyle.
The women's team also took home a first place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay which was held by Reizinger, Chavis, Kyleigh Shonk, and Megan Cronje.Â
Overall, the men finished first in nine out of the 12 events. Bence Meresz started off with a first place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly. Next, Meindert Dekkinga came in first place in the 200 yard Backstroke.
Mate Dort had another great weekend and placed first in the 100 and 200 yard Breaststroke and the 500 yard Freestyle. Brother Bence Dort also had a fantastic dual, finishing in first place in the 100 and 200 yard Freestyle. Bence Dort also finished with his personal best in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:45.46. One other first place finish came from Tyron Klynhan in the 50 yard Freestyle.
"It was a fun, relaxing meet to end the year." Coach Tom Keer said. " We swam really well in a low pressure environment."
Up next, the Running Eagles will continue their 2023-2024 season at Berry College on Saturday, January 13th at 10 AM.Â
